Looking for storage ideas and hacks for your campervan? It's a constant battle, right? We're certainly always thinking about storage solutions for our old motorhome so we thought we'd share a few.
Keep spices and oils secure with customisable foam!

You can also check out the Instagram video to see it in action but, essentially, this is vac-packed, thick foam with small pre-cut squares which you can very easily remove to fit your glass bottles (oil etc), spices and whatever else you fancy. It's deep enough to keep it all safe when you're driving which makes life easier for us!
We bought the four piece pack (as below) but you can buy eight pieces. Note that the four piece pack comes with two of the large deep pre-cut foam pieces and to less deep (thinner) plain foam which you can simply cut to size and use as you wish (we use ours to protect our wine glasses. More on that particular campervan storage idea below.)
For this, you just need to:
Open the vac-pack (which is remarkably small)
Add a little water and let it expand
Let it dry off completely
Cut the foam to the correct size for your cupboard space (a tight fit is definitely best as you don't want it moving about at all)
Pluck the little squares out to use it for your stuff - keep the gaps slightly smaller than your bottle if ya can!
Pop the foam into your cupboard space or whatever you need and away ya go!
Obviously you can also use it for tools, cutlery, utensils, glassware or just about anything else!
It's available from Amazon and reasonably priced for how much you get - here's the link.
No more need for teatowels squeezed into every nook and cranny to stop it all crashing about!
Don't like plastic wine glasses? This is how we keep our real wine glasses safe...

It's no secret that we like our wine (and beer) and we don't have many luxuries in the van (more on that later) but we do like to drink wine from nice wine glasses rather than plastic or heavy less-easy-to-break glass.) Our burgundy glasses are light, of course, but they could definitely break easily in a van so storing them carefully was key. Partly because regular replacement would get pricey but mostly because the glass would make a dangerous and difficult-to-clean mess for us and our fur baby, Gracie.
The answer? A combination of this very simple adhesive glass rack/holder and our trusty foam (as above)!
How did we do it? As you can almost make out from the image (or you can watch how we did it on our Instagram video), we simply:
Used the adhesive strips that come with the rack (but you might want to be super cautious and add a little Gorilla Grip or similar) to attach it to the underneath of a cupboard. We cleaned it carefully first, of course!
Left it 24 hours to ensure it had adhered properly.
Cut and placed a piece of the thinner foam inside the rack/holder pushed it up against the wall to ensure that the wine glass never hit any firm surface as we're moving (or anytime.)
Glued some pieces of the above, thicker/deeper, pre-cut foam together to slide into the rack between our two glasses.
Cut a small piece to place at the end to ensure that the wine glasses can't slide over the (small) lip and fall out of the rack.
We've travelled well over 5000km in the last year and they're perfectly intact which keeps us happy as we pick up plenty of wine en route.
Cheers! Salud! Santé!
Storing the smaller stuff (and food) using plastic file boxes...

A friend got us onto this one. It's a simple storage solution but, essentially, we just got ourselves a couple of these open plastic 'file' holder that you may have traditionally had in an office (on a desk or shelf) back when we actually used paper!
It's particularly satisfying if they fit almost perfectly to the height of your cupboard but it's helpful regardless. We simply use them to separate stuff in our dry foods cupboard. For. example, instead of piling cans next to jars and packets etc, we use one of these to pop all of the packet items in with a couple of small bottles that we need regularly at the front (i.e. Tabasco). We find them most helpful if we got glass jars mixing with packets of pasta or tins of tuna or beans etc. That way, we keep the glass from moving about when we drive. These are used in our high kitchen cupboards so we don't want a jar of asparagus smashing and going everywhere!
Definitely not rocket science but certainly helpful as it's all about being able to find the stuff you're looking for as well as to prevent it all crashing about, of course!
More to come (and there's more tips here)....
